The Gargoyles had their first playoff game since moving back into Division 3 this past Saturday 10/22/22. The fans came out in droves to watch the game and they were not disappointed. Vastly undersized, the Gargoyles had to play to their strengths – solid tackling, and fast play out to the backline. Even so the Pigs went up early with the first try and from then on it was back and forth play the rest of the day. Try for Try was answered and Peoria made several penalty kicks to stay on top by 5, with only a few minutes left in play. Peoria was driving into Gargoyle territory when a tackle and steal was made by Steve Vidas. From there they drove down the field, controlling the ball, inch by inch, knowing this was their last chance. Peoria stuffed them several times within the 5 meter line, when the Gargs swung the ball out to Tom Wainwright who juked several Pigs to dive in for the game trying tie. At this point the kicker Jacob Mason had no idea it was a tie and this final kick would decide the victory. He placed the ball on the tee and knocked it through the uprights for the Gargoyles to walk off with the Win!!!!
The Gargoyles will take on the Chicago Riot in Chicago on 10/29/22 for the quarter finals.
Scores today by Aaron Melso (2), Ryan Melso, Noah Colhurst, Jacob Mason, Matt Dictus, Tom Wainwright, Jacob Mason with 3 conversions.
